The trail format this library writes. Format 4 carries no telemetry queue
(undelivered events belong to the process that logged them); format 3
(released in v4.7.0), format 2 (v4.6.0) and format 1 (v4.5.0) are still
read and migrated on decode — their screen ids to the current ones (see
decodeTrail), a queue they carry ignored — so a trail saved by any
release keeps retracing. Every other format is refused. A format released in
a tag is never changed in place.
