ordinal after them. Outside a user session there is no ordinal to consume.
The Direct conversation reserves one after its own when a list row opens it
(android-451/direct-actions-group, run-direct-picker-theme,
run-direct-feed-theme: the first child of the thread takes the ordinal two
after it, whichever child it is).
